Threading

ARC can provide bar threaded to your requirements

Threading of reinforcing bar is normally carried out for the purpose of achieving mechanical splices.

Full bar strength threaded mechanical splices can only be achieved using recognised systems such as the Ancon Bartec® parallel thread or the Erico Lenton® tapered thread.

The Bartec® system requires that the bar end to be threaded is square cut and compressed to increase the cross-sectional area prior to threading. Lenton® tapered threading requires no pre-treatment of the bar end.

Parallel metric threading without Bartec processing is also available, however this will not transmit the full strength of the bar across the threaded joint and therefore should not be used as a bar splice.

For our range of threaded splices refer to Bar Couplers section
